Beth’s Priorities
Having served as an elected official in the Hudson Valley for nearly a decade, Beth not only knows how to run and win tough campaigns—she knows how to get things done and deliver bipartisan results. She’s one of the only Democrats in the country right now who can say that she’s worked across the aisle to both cut taxes and pass common-sense gun safety legislation.
The Hudson Valley deserves a representative with deep roots and experience. Beth truly knows our community. She’s lived our challenges, fought our fights, and remains deeply invested in our future. Here’s where Beth will focus on Day One:
Tackling the Affordability Crisis
Keeping Hudson Valley Families Safe
Safeguarding Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Food Assistance
Standing Up for Our Democracy
Securing America’s Interests Abroad
Protecting Our Environment
Repairing Our Broken Immigration System
Defending Civil Rights
Taking Care of Families
Championing Reproductive Freedoms
Tackling the Affordability Crisis
When Beth and her husband, Jeff, moved to Nyack 20 years ago, they fell in love with the Hudson Valley as a place where people could buy a house and raise their families while working jobs that paid enough for families to get by.
But that’s really changed. Housing costs are out of control, along with utilities, groceries, child care and other life expenses—and it’s hard for both our kids to envision a future here and for seniors to retire with dignity. Fortunately, Beth has a track record of lowering costs for Hudson Valley residents . In the Rockland County Legislature, Beth voted to lower taxes for Rocklanders, while increasing funding by 20% for vital nonprofits. On the Nyack School Board, Beth passed much-needed property tax relief for seniors and volunteer first responders hard-hit by rising costs. In Congress, Beth will continue working to lower our cost of living while investing in the resources our community needs to thrive. Her priorities include:
- Restoring the full SALT deduction to ease the tax burden on local homeowners
- Putting an end to the Trump Tariff Tax that is raising prices and crushing small businesses
- Expanding homeownership opportunities and bringing down housing costs for families of all backgrounds
- Investing in child care, elder care, and paid family leave so family members can care for their loved ones at every stage of life
- Lowering everyday costs of groceries and gasoline by cracking down on corporate price gouging
- Capping out-of-pocket costs for prescription drugs and health care
- Investing in vocational and career training programs
Keeping Hudson Valley Families Safe
Safety means more than just feeling secure in your neighborhood — it means knowing your kids are protected at school, your streets are walkable, and help is there when you need it. In the Rockland County Legislature, Beth has worked across the aisle to fully fund law enforcement and make sure the police have the resources they need to keep our community safe. She also passed her own bipartisan common-sense gun safety legislation with unanimous support from the legislature; her bill was signed into law by the Republican County Executive the very next day. As a member of the Nyack School Board, Beth funded critical safety and security measures and brought gun violence prevention programs into our buildings. As a Hudson Valley elected official and mom, Beth takes your family’s safety personally. As our Congresswoman, Beth will:
- Support local law enforcement with the tools and training they need to keep our community safe
- Pass common-sense gun safety reforms, including universal background checks, red flag laws, and an assault weapons ban
- Expand access to mental health and addiction recovery services
- Improve border security to crack down on fentanyl trafficking and hold drug dealers accountable
- Invest in safe streets and pedestrian safety measures in every corner of our community
Safeguarding Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Food Assistance
Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are lifelines for hundreds of thousands of Hudson Valley residents — providing retirement security, lifesaving healthcare and critical support for people with disabilities. Our seniors earned these benefits through a lifetime of hard work, and while Mike Lawler is willing to put them on the chopping block, along with the Emergency Food Assistance Program that feeds tens of thousands—seniors, children, veterans—in the Hudson Valley. Cuts to any of these programs will devastate our communities. As our Congresswoman, Beth will:
As our Congresswoman, Beth will:
- Stand up to Elon Musk and extreme Republicans who are threatening cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid
- Fund and reopen local Social Security offices to better serve our community
- Cut through bureaucratic red tape to reduce wait times and clear the backlog of claims
- Block efforts to privatize these programs or raise the retirement age
- Expand Medicare to cover hearing, dental, and vision care
- Secure long-term solvency without raising taxes on the middle class
- Protect our local food banks and the farms that that supply them.
Standing Up for Our Democracy
Now more than ever, our democracy is under threat—and not just from foreign adversaries, but from the likes of Elon Musk and Donald Trump, who believe the rules don’t apply to them. Beth Davidson knows we need leaders in Congress who will stand up to billionaires trying to buy influence and to politicians trying to disenfranchise the American people for personal gain.
As our Congresswoman, Beth will fight to:
- Protect public institutions from privatization and put federal employees back to work for the people
- Preserve critical services that Hudson Valley residents rely on, like the Postal Service, veterans’ benefits, Medicaid, and public schools
- End partisan gerrymandering and protect voting rights from partisan manipulation
- Enact term limits and stronger ethics rules, to keep career politicians and corrupt insiders in check
- Ban members of Congress from stock trading
- Overturn Citizens United and stop the flood of dark money that lets billionaires drown out the voices of our families
- Hold tech billionaires accountable by regulating social media platforms and tech monopolies to stop the spread of disinformation and protect our national security
Securing America’s Interests Abroad
Beth believes that American leadership on the global stage is essential to protecting our national security, defending democracy, and upholding the values we share with our allies. In an increasingly dangerous world, she will work to ensure the United States remains a force for stability, peace, and human dignity — and that our commitments to our allies remain ironclad.
Beth strongly supports continued U.S. assistance to both Israel and Ukraine as they defend themselves against violent threats. As our Congresswoman, she’ll support:
- Continuing our strong support for Israel: As a Jewish community leader, Beth believes the United States has a moral and strategic responsibility to ensure that one of our closest allies—and the only democracy in the Middle East—has the resources it needs to defend its citizens from growing threats. She supports the continuation of the Memorandum of Understanding to provide sustained military assistance and security cooperation that keeps Israel safe. Beth also believes in the long-term goal of a two-state solution—negotiated directly by the parties and informed by the progress of the Abraham Accords—that ensures Israel’s security and creates a future of peace, dignity, and self-determination for both Israelis and Palestinians.
- Continuing support for Ukraine: Beth supports continued military, humanitarian, and economic aid to Ukraine as it fights back against Vladimir Putin’s brutal and illegal invasion. A free and sovereign Ukraine is critical to European stability and the future of democracy in the 21st century.
As our Congresswoman, Beth will also work to:
- Strengthen our alliances with NATO and democratic partners around the world
- Enforce sanctions against Iran and its allies to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear abilities as well as countering its funding of terrorist groups
- Confront growing authoritarian threats from China and Russia
- Combat the use of disinformation and cyber warfare
- Protect American digital innovation to ensure we maintain our competitive advantage
- Promote diplomacy, human rights, and responsible use of U.S. military power
Protecting Our Environment
As Chair of both the Rockland County Environmental Committee and the Rockland County Task Force on Water Resources Management, Beth has led successful efforts to preserve hundreds of acres of open space and is working to ensure safe, clean drinking water for Hudson Valley families. In Congress, she’ll continue the fight to protect our natural resources and secure a livable future for the next generation.
Beth’s environmental priorities include:
- Investing in clean energy, public transportation, and green job training
- Upgrading water treatment and sewage systems to protect public health from PFAS, toxic algal blooms and more
- Replacing and rehabilitating aging water storage infrastructure
- Holding corporate polluters accountable for toxic dumping and water contamination
- Preserving shorelines and wetlands from overdevelopment
- Incentivizing energy efficiency for homes, schools, and small businesses
- Transitioning to 100% renewable electricity and achieving net-zero emissions
Repairing Our Broken Immigration System
Our current immigration system is broken. DC politicians have failed to resolve this crisis for decades, and New York families are paying the price. Our taxpayers, our schools, and our nonprofits are already stretched too thin. Beth supports secure borders and modernizing our immigration system to provide a fair path to citizenship—serious reforms guided by dignity, safety, and common sense.
Beth will prioritize:
- Passing bipartisan, comprehensive immigration reform that fixes our broken immigration system once and for all
- Cracking down on fentanyl and human trafficking
- Streamlining and modernizing asylum and immigration processing
- Providing a path to citizenship for Dreamers
- Increasing resources for Border Patrol and modernizing border security
Defending Civil Rights
Beth believes every person deserves to live with dignity, free from discrimination—no matter who they are, where they come from, or who they love. This belief has driven her work on both the Nyack School Board and the County Legislature.
As Congresswoman, Beth will fight to:
- Pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and protect access to the ballot
- Enact the Equality Act to ensure full rights for LGBTQ+ Americans
- Strengthen anti-discrimination laws in housing, employment, and education
- Support people with disabilities through expanded services and protections
- Confront hate in all forms — antisemitism, racism, homophobia, anti-immigrant rhetoric, and more
Taking Care of Families
Beth believes no family should have to choose between a paycheck and caring for a loved one. As a two-time cancer survivor and mom who went through in vitro fertilization (IVF), Beth knows these fights better than most — and she’s running to make sure other families don’t have to.
As our Congresswoman, Beth will fight for our families by:
- Guaranteeing paid family and medical leave for every American
- Investing in child care, elder care, and paid family leave so that family members can care for their loved ones at every stage of life
- Expanding the quantity and quality of childcare centers and early child education for every community
- Providing caregivers with the respect, training, and compensation they deserve
- Tackling the maternal mortality crisis and investing in prenatal care
- Ensuring every child has access to healthy meals and mental health support in school
Championing Reproductive Freedoms
After surviving cancer the first time, Beth and her husband struggled with infertility. Beth and her husband, Jeff, went through in vitro fertilization, and are now the proud parents of Josie and Hugo. Informed by both her health challenges and a lifetime of advocacy for reproductive freedom, Beth is committed to ensuring that women and families have access to a full range of reproductive technology and health care. Beth is a firm believer that reproductive health care decisions should be made by patients and their doctors, not by politicians. And as a mom to a daughter who now has fewer rights that she did at the same age, Beth understands just how personal — and how fragile — reproductive freedom can be.
As our Congresswoman, Beth will fight to:
- Restore Roe v. Wade as the law of the land
- Guarantee nationwide access to abortion, birth control, and IVF
- Block any attempt at a national abortion ban
- Repeal the Hyde Amendment to ensure reproductive healthcare is accessible for everyone
- Protect doctors, patients, and clinics from political interference
- Crack down on predatory “Crisis Pregnancy Centers” that offer unproven, even dangerous services and aim to prevent patients from accessing quality care and options
