June 18, 2025
NYACK, NY — Beth Davidson’s campaign for Congress in New York’s 17th District continues to surge as a new slate of heavyweight Westchester endorsements cements her position as the clear Democratic frontrunner to take on Republican Mike Lawler this November.
With more than 100 grassroots community leaders and the backing of Rockland County’s top Democratic elected officials and party leaders already behind her, Davidson today announced support from some of Westchester’s most influential political leaders, advocates, and organizers, demonstrating growing momentum and deepening confidence in her ability to flip this critical battleground seat.
The latest endorsers include:
- Mike Kaplowitz, former Chair of the Westchester County Board of Legislators
- Shannon Powell, Co-Founder of Indivisible Westchester
- Nancy Street, President of the Westchester Jewish Democrats
- Allison Fine, former NY-17 candidate and former National Board Chair of NARAL (now Reproductive Freedom for All)
- Ken Wray, former Mayor of Sleepy Hollow
- Barry Graubart, gun violence prevention leader and Moms Demand Action advocate
- Tina Volz-Bongar, Peekskill Democratic District Leader and environmental activist
Together, they represent a formidable cross-section of the Democratic political ecosystem in Westchester, from grassroots organizers and institutional leaders to policy experts and party veterans, sending a clear signal that Beth Davidson is the candidate trusted to unify the party, energize the base, and win in November.
“I’ve been around politics long enough to know a tough race when I see one, and flipping NY-17 from red to blue is as tough as they come. That’s why I’m so proud to endorse Beth Davidson,” said former Chair of the Westchester County Board of Legislators Michael Kaplowitz. “She’s got the smarts, the speaking skills, the grit, the governing experience, and the ability to raise the resources and build the coalition we need to win. Beth has what it takes to take down Mike Lawler and flip this seat once and for all.”
Davidson remains the only candidate in the race with broad, county-spanning support from Democratic Party leadership, elected officials, progressive activists, and community leaders. These new Westchester endorsements come on the heels of major showings in Rockland and among grassroots supporters across the district, further solidifying her status as the candidate best positioned to win the primary and defeat Lawler in November.
“This campaign is about all of us, and about bringing people together from every corner of NY-17 to take back this seat and deliver for our communities,” said Beth Davidson. “I’m honored to have the support of so many neighbors who are fighting for affordable healthcare, reproductive freedom, strong public schools, a livable planet, and a government that actually works for the people. Together, we’re building a grassroots movement that’s ready to win.”
