Former Congressman Mondaire Jones Endorses Beth Davidson for New York’s 17th Congressional District
February 25, 2025
Nyack, NY – Today, former Congressman Mondaire Jones officially endorsed Rockland County Legislator Beth Davidson in her campaign for New York’s 17th Congressional District, citing her proven ability to work across the aisle, fight for affordability, and stand up for Hudson Valley families.
“No one knows better than I do the lengths to which Mike Lawler will go to prove his loyalty to Donald Trump, even if it makes the lives of his constituents worse. That’s why next year we must elect Beth Davidson, a real, bipartisan leader willing to stand up to her own party if it means protecting lower Hudson Valley residents,” said former Congressman Mondaire Jones.
“Beth has a proven track record of delivering for our communities: lowering costs, improving public safety, and standing up for Hudson Valley families–all in stark contrast to Mike Lawler, who’s not only failed to fully restore the SALT deduction but is about to give another unnecessary tax break to billionaires like his biggest donor, Elon Musk, while making working-class New Yorkers pay for it. We must flip the 17th District to take back the House majority, and Beth Davidson is the best candidate positioned to do it. That’s why I’m proud to endorse today.”
Davidson, a longtime bipartisan problem solver, has built a reputation for working across party lines to get things done. As a Rockland County Legislator, she worked across the aisle to deliver a bipartisan tax cut, secured funding for law enforcement and public safety measures, and passed public safety legislation to reduce gun violence.
“I’m honored to have Mondaire’s support in this race,” said Davidson. “As our Congressman, Mondaire was a tireless advocate for economic fairness and Hudson Valley families. I’m ready to build on that work—fighting to lower costs, keep our kids and families safe, and ensure Hudson Valley families have a representative who is actually focused on taking care of our community.”
Jones’s endorsement adds to Davidson’s growing coalition of supporters, including over 30 leaders who have already endorsed her campaign (see below).
Davidson’s campaign is focused on three core priorities:
- Making life more affordable: Davidson will fight to repeal the SALT cap, crack down on predatory landlords and private equity firms that are driving up housing prices, lower healthcare and prescription drug costs, and bring down prices for essential goods like groceries and gas.
- Keeping our communities safe: Davidson has a proven record of working across the aisle to combat gun violence and improve mental health services while fully funding law enforcement so they can protect our schools and neighborhoods and stop the flow of dangerous fentanyl into the Hudson Valley. In Congress she will push to strengthen border security by deporting violent criminals and hiring more border agents.
- Delivering real bipartisan results: Unlike Washington politicians who play partisan games, Davidson has a track record of getting things done—working with both parties to provide tax relief for families, fund law enforcement, and expand housing.
